The Ultraloq U-Bolt Pro is the budget smart lock I hand people who want everything and don't want to spend $260 to get it. Around $160 buys a fingerprint deadbolt with six ways in, up to a year of battery, and, crucially, a fingerprint reader that actually works. It's not the prettiest lock on the block, and getting it online costs extra. For the money, nothing does more.
Six unlock methods — gimmick or genuinely useful?
Mostly useful. Fingerprint is the star: in testing it read my thumb correctly every single time, which even pricier locks can't promise. Then there's a keypad code, the app, a backup physical key, auto-unlock as you approach, and a knock-to-open option. You won't use all six daily, but having fingerprint plus code plus key covers every 'I forgot my phone' and 'the guest is here early' scenario a household throws at a door.
What's the catch at this price?
Connectivity. Out of the box the U-Bolt Pro is Bluetooth, so it's fully functional at the door but can't be checked or controlled from away until you add the separate U-Bolt Pro Bridge for Wi-Fi. Budget for that if remote access matters. The other compromises are cosmetic and minor: the round keypad-over-deadbolt looks a little busy, and the app is functional rather than beautiful. Neither dents what the lock does.

Cons
- Wi-Fi and remote control need the separate Bridge add-on

The asterisk is connectivity: out of the box it's Bluetooth, so if you want to check or unlock the door from the office you'll need to buy the U-Bolt Pro Bridge. Accept that and it's the budget champ. For around $160 you get a fingerprint deadbolt that in testing read my thumb correctly every single time, something even pricier locks don't guarantee, plus five other ways in and up to a year of battery. It's not the prettiest lock on the door, and the app won't win awards. But no other lock gives you this much for the money. Buy it as the do-it-all budget pick. If Matter and a built-in hub matter more, the eufy Smart Lock E30 is the alternative.
What to buy instead
Want Matter and Wi-Fi built in without a separate bridge? The eufy Smart Lock E30 includes both for a bit more. Renting and can't swap the deadbolt? The retrofit SwitchBot Lock Pro keeps your keys.
The verdict
The Ultraloq U-Bolt Pro is the value champion: a fingerprint deadbolt that does nearly everything the flagships do for roughly half the price, with a reader that just works. Add the Bridge if you want remote control, forgive the busy looks, and you've got the most capable budget lock of 2026.
